What is Office 365 from GoDaddy?

Office 365 from GoDaddy improves on a classic loved by millions the world over. It presents the entire suite of productivity-boosting Microsoft software and services (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) online.

That’s right, with a monthly Online Essentials subscription from GoDaddy, you can access web-app versions of all your favourite Office software from anywhere and at any time – even from your smartphone. But the benefits don’t end there.

Office 365 from GoDaddy makes it possible to share and collaborate on documents using OneDrive for Business and Office Online.

With GoDaddy’s Online Essentials or Business Premium plan you can also:

  • Create a branded email address based on your business domain
  • Share calendars and contacts with people inside and outside of your company

And unlike the Office 365 email account you currently have, you can hold real-time online meetings and screen-sharing using Skype for Business (PC) or Lync (Mac).

Once your business is big enough to start hiring employees, you might want to install the O365 suite of apps on each team member’s devices. You can choose from two subscription levels that allow you to install the complete suite on up to five devices.

Now that’s covered, I bet you’ve got a few questions on why Office 365 from GoDaddy is a smart choice for anyone who’d like to spend as little time as possible managing email.

Managing email with Office 365 FAQ

Office 365 email accounts have a lot to offer small business owners, including:

  • A confidence-inspiring email address with your business web address right in it
  • Top-notch spam filtering
  • Email backup with one-click retrieval.

And it’s all powered by Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft's own groupware server.

So, let’s dive in and answer the most frequently asked questions about Office 365.

Can I get help moving my current email to Office 365?

Yes. If the thought of changing email platforms and losing your business emails or folders sends chills down your spine, help is just a phone call away. Put the GoDaddy Office 365 experts to work, then consider it handled.

They’ll create your business email account when it’s convenient for you and minimise downtime and disruption to your business. It’s as easy as calling :+1 (02) 8042-8920 to get a free quote.

Can I create more than one email address?Person managing email on his phone and laptop]

One of the biggest issues around managing email has to do with the need for more than one email address.

With Office 365 from GoDaddy there’s no limit on the email aliases you can create. So, for example:

  • help@
  • admin@
  • sales@
  • billing@

Separate email aliases make small ventures look bigger than they are.

The only recommendation is that you have fewer than 200 for optimal performance, as all your email aliases route to your primary inbox.

You can add a new alias in just five easy steps right from your Email & Office Dashboard.

If you’re keen to have separate mailboxes to manage emails, you’ll need to consider adding more than one user. Check out the next question for more on this.

How many user accounts do I need to buy?

If you’re just starting out as a solo business owner, you’ll only need to have one Office 365 user account.

As you add team members, each will need their own Office 365 email account.

This gives them access to their own email address and mailbox. This can be useful if each worker is responsible for a different function — for example if joe@yourbusinessdomain.com is also the guy who handles support. Simply create the support@ alias on Joe’s account and all the help requests will land in his inbox.

Can I manage my email through shared mailboxes?

What if support@ is the responsibility of more than one employee? Shared mailboxes allow your team to read and send messages from a common email address.

This is perfect for small teams looking to improve efficiency when handling customer enquiries and accounts. For example, you might want to create a support@ email that a number of team members can check, depending on who’s on duty.

With Office 365, you can manage emails with a shared mailbox that can be set up in as little as 15 to 20 minutes - there’s even a short video to show you how.

What happens if a team member leaves and I hire a replacement?

If you no longer need an email user, you can delete their email address from your GoDaddy account at any time.

But, a word of warning here.

Once a user is deleted, the contents of their mailbox is no longer accessible – which means all their business-related correspondence will be lost.

An alternative is to change the username of the old employee’s Office 365 account. This approach creates an alias (or forward) of the previous username so you won’t miss any emails sent to the previous team member’s email address by clients who haven’t yet heard their contact has left your business.

Does Office 365 from GoDaddy have multi-factor authentication?

Managing email by adding another layer of security helps you protect your account from unauthorised access. Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is fairly standard across the board these days and Office 365 definitely doesn’t disappoint. It’s easy to enable and disable MFA in Office 365 if you’re an administrator on the account.

Are there any limitations to Office 365 from GoDaddy?

The short answer is yes. But the limitations are unlikely to get in the way of managing your email as your small venture grows.

For example, with Office 365 from GoDaddy, you can:

  • Send messages up to 25 MB in size
  • Send a single email to as many as 500 recipients
  • Have up to 125 attachments per email (not exceeding the 25 MB message size limit)

Are there add-ons to make managing email easier?

There sure are! We’ve all experienced the dreaded lost email scenario.

You’ve searched high and low through your inbox, folders — even your deleted emails – no deal.

That’s where Office 365 Email Backup really helps with email management. If you can’t afford to lose an email, this option is a must for ensuring business continuity.

The other add-on worth considering is Advanced Email Security, which protects your business from data and security breaches. And for complete peace of mind, it works on both inbound and outbound email traffic.
