How to stop liked image link opening on a new page?

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here. Just started building my site today!

Does anyone know how you can get a liked image to stop opening the link on a new page?

I have tried clicking off the new page option on the image, but it still opens in a new page.

Am I missing something somewhere?

If you need any more info from me, just let me know

Thanks

Jo

Hello Jonjo77,

Most of the time this takes place because of a tag such as

<........ target="_blank">

located in the file structure.

Maybe a quick link to the site you are building will give me a little better opportunity to help you out.  I don't know what platform and or theme you are designing with.  But if you are building it from scratch then make sure you do not have the above attribute in the image.

Example

<a href="where_link_will_go.com">
  <img src="your_image.png" alt="this link stays on same page" style="width:42px;height:42px;border:0;">
</a>

<a href="where_link_will_go.com"; target="_blank">
  <img src="your_image.png" alt="this link opens new page" style="width:42px;height:42px;border:0;">
</a>

I am experiencing this same difficulty and dont know how to access the coding of the image.  It is preset to open a new page.

How to use Developers Tools

This should give you a good idea of how to find and track down where images are displayed from.  Without a link to your site it's difficult.

I also do not know why when you reply to the message GoDaddy does not send me an e-mail.  Either way, this is a great video to watch.  This will teach you the basics of how to pinpoint locations, and make changes to code.
