    502 Bad Gateway

My Managed WordPress site (willisweb.com) has had issues for a long time. I've tried to solve this by contacting GoDaddy and my ISP, Charter Spectrum. In both cases I've been told it was the other party's fault which, in itself, is incredibly frustrating. Initially it seemed as though the site was only broken when being accessed from a Charter Spectrum connection (I tried in multiple households as well as having friends try) but seemed OK when accessed from my mobile data plan (AT&T) or another ISP (i.e., Verizon). Now, my site is broken no matter which connection I use. In addition, the GoDaddy monitoring tools and downforeveryoneorjustme.com both report 100% site downtime.

This needs to be fixed now. Support chat is unavailable and I'm at work so I can't sit on the phone for an hour. I've been paying for degraded service for nearly a year now. I also keep getting e-mails from GoDaddy saying that my DNS is changing almost daily. I don't know what's going on. Can somebody help?

@coderhead  your website is loading fine for me:

    Re: 502 Bad Gateway

@justingodfrey Thanks for looking at that. However, as stated in my post there are definite issues with different providers or regions or something that looks random and is impossible for me to diagnose myself. It's not just me who has an issue with the DNS; it's other people I know as well as outside utilities like downforeveryoneorjustme.com.

I can also get my site to load just fine by entering DNS records manually in my hosts file, but I can't force that change on every computer in the world. That's why I need a more definitive answer than, "Works for me." Thanks again.

    Solution

    Re: 502 Bad Gateway

I just posted a topic on this but I don't think it has been published yet.... There is a hidden 'drop-in plugin' in the WP directory (not in a plugin folder) called object-cache.php (APCu Object Cache) that GoDaddy decided to add to their managed WordPress sites... I was losing my mind - getting errors for two full weeks with no resolution...  when I stumbled upon this plugin.

When I FTP'd into the site and deleted the plugin, it fixed everything. Maybe this will help. Good luck!

Here are a couple of things I read about the plugin after I stumbled upon it:

    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-no-longer-supported-breaks-caching/#post-11672490

    https://www.godaddy.com/community/Using-WordPress/object-cache-php-APCu-Object-Cache-Confusion/td-p/...

    Re: 502 Bad Gateway

Fantastic! I never would have tracked this down, but now that I've deleted and reloaded object-cache and reinitialized all of my plugins the site seems way more stable. You're a lifesaver.

    Hooray!

I was really hoping my two weeks of banging my head against a wall would help at least one other person - now it's all worth it!
