1 Year domain name renewal went from $15 to $267.33

I've had the domain name for 2 years now, and each year the renewal has only been $15. However, I built a website using the domain with Wordpress and my fee skyrocketed. I figured it was because GoDaddy was hosting it my website, but when I go check out the products page, the only thing that shows up is my domain name fee.

I'm told that I need to pay $267.33 just for the renewal of the domain name. Any idea why that happened? Is it because I'm having my domain name from GoDaddy forwarded to Wordpress servers?

What is the extension of your domain name? Some domain extensions can have some hefty renewal rates and these can increase at anytime... I suspect you may have a gTLD?

Hi Michael,

Not sure what a domain extenstion or a gTLD are. Where I should look?

Thanks!

A domain extension is the part of the domain after the period.

Such as:

.com

.net

.org

.tech

.xyz

etc...

Ah, yes. It's .com.

.com renewal will not cost you anywhere in the neighborhood of $267.33!

Something else is going on here...

You either need to contact Godaddy Customer Support, or if you want to provide a screen shot of your invoice then I can probably tell you what is going on. (make sure to mask any personal info)
