Changing Domain during free trial

Hello everyone, I bought a domain from Domain.com before I set up my website on GoDaddy, I figured I would be able to just use it on whatever site I made my website. Anyway, can I use my domain during the Godaddy free trial every time I try to change it, it keeps trying to get me to pay for a plan  which is my plan, but why can't I change it now during my free trial?

That just sounds like a notification that the product needs to be renewed if you want to continue using the website after the free trial expires.  I believe the product team is currently testing these notifications so we may not see the exact same thing, but you should be able to skip past it (possibly an "X" in the top right, or some kind of continue button at the bottom).

For external domains you'll need to change the IP address it points to at that provider.  You can select an IP address from step 10 of this article:

https://www.godaddy.com/help/connect-my-site-to-a-domain-24748

Then here are the steps to update your A record at Domain.com, skip step #5 and edit the existing record for @ like the example in step #6:

Scroll down and select "I already own a domain - I have a domain outside of GoDaddy"

Yeah I tried that but it sends me to select a plan, if I select a plan will i have to pay for it right now or will I be able to complete my free trial?

btw Thanks!

Hi @IASeries,

Welcome to the Community!

If you're not ready to renew, you'll need to complete the 30-day free trial using the *.godaddysites.com address. In order to change the URL and use an active domain, the Websites+Marketing will need to be a paid plan. (This is due to a fairly recent security measure to protect GoDaddy customers.) You can opt to renew monthly or  yearly at any time.
