Cannot install or activate plugins and themes

Just bought my hosting and set up my website using WordPress. Unfortunately, as I try to install a plugin or a theme, I would always get an internal server error. So I uploaded the plugins/themes through FTP, but when I tried to activate it, it gave me the same server error.

Can someone tell me what is happening or what can I do to fix it?

Re: Cannot install or activate plugins and themes

Hey there @dashmendoza23,

First thing I'd do is try toggling my PHP versions to see if that helps. Here's the instructions on how to do it.

If that doesn't work, you may want to increase your PHP limits. You just log into your cPanel, in the Software section you go to Select PHP Version, then select the hyperlink on the right that says Switch to PHP Options. From there, you'll want to raise the limits on your Memory Limit and Max_Upload_Filesize to a larger allocation, save, and try again.

If none of that works, you may want to try debug mode to see if you're getting any PHP errors, which would indicate an issue with the themes/plugins or WordPress core files.
