I am assuming that you are referring to https://themeforest.net/item/betheme-responsive-multipurpose-wordpress-theme/7758048 which when from version 17 to version 20 in 2017

The best way to upgrade this theme based on what I'm seeing is to

1) Backup your site and database

2) Rename the betheme folder (wp-content/themes) to betheme-old - just so it is faster to get back to incase there is an issue

3) upload the zip file of the new version to the themes folder and extract it

This should create a new betheme folder

Then when you go into WordPress there maybe a number of scripts that need to run as part of the update.
