Moving WordPress pages from child dir to root folder

i have a default wp install and everything ended up in the //domainname/blog directory. i would like to leave the blog content in that dir but everything else (I'm assuming) needs to move up a level to the root of the website. Is it as simple as moving the other pages up a level in the directory structure? Seems like that would break the word press config. Any help would be great. Thanks!
