Wordpress very slow and 500 error on adding new theme

Hello,

I am using the Economy Windows Hosting with Plesk, and just added a wordpress 4.7.1 without adding any contents or add-ins yet. However, the wordpress website has been very slow response - I can feel that it's much slower than access the other webpage. When I tried to use admin site to install a new theme, it always gave this 500 error, even if I installed the ones that are coming with Wordpress (e.g., Biznez lite) and didn't upload a new one.

I called the tech support, who claimed that he could not find anything wrong with the server so that this must be something wrong with wordpress (which I installed directly from Godaddy), and he has done everything he can but there is nothing he can change. I honestly thought that the wordpress is coming with the hosting so that I can directly use it. Could you please let me know what I should do in this case - I can't cancel the web hosting, but without wordpress I will not be able to use this hosting. Thank you very much!

Here is the detailed error message after I tried to install a new theme:

Re: Wordpress very slow and 500 error on adding new theme

Hi @PineLiu. Thanks for being part of GoDaddy Community! The error appears to be related to FastCGI.

The FastCGI process exceeded configured activity timeout...

In looking through the suggested causes, they all seem to hinge on the application trying to access something that it doesn't have access to. My first suggestion would be to consider moving to a Linux based plan (cPanel or Managed WordPress). Linux is usually a better environment for PHP applications. Touch base with support to see about getting a refund or credit to help with the switch. If that's not possible, you may want to enlist the aid of a web developer that is knowledgeable in using PHP on IIS systems.
