Dear community
I struggle with getting root access via SSH. Login with the given username vis SSH works, however I can't switch to root. The product I use is "Deluxe Linux Hosting with cPanel".
Can someone please let me know if this is possible with this plan and/or how to enable it?
Thx!

Hey @runaway,
Because you are on a shared cPanel hosting plan, you will not have Super User access via SSH. That level access is only available within a Dedicated Server or VPS hosting plan.
Hi @runaway,
Welcome to the Community!
Yes, SSH access is possible with a cPanel shared hosting plan. You may use these instructions to first check if SSH access has been enabled. There is another link in the article (Related steps) that will help you connect with an SSH client.
Hi @TLH
to connect is actually not the problem. Switching to root after being connected is the problem. Typically the commands "su" or "sudo" are used to achieve that but they are not working in my environment.
BTW: The link target under "related steps" (Now you can connect via a SSH client.) does not exists anymore.
