unable to clone git repository from cpanel

I have followed the instructions to create a repo on cpanel, and then clone it to my local machine, for the purposes of push deployment.

Following these instrucions:

Step 1: Clone the cPanel-hosted repository to your local computer and navigate to its directory:
git clone ssh://username@mydomain/home/username/example cd example
Step 2: Create a README file:echo "# README" >>
Step 3: Commit the README file to the project:git add git commit -m "Initial Commit" git push -u origin master
when attempting to push in step 3 I get the following message:

fatal: bad config value for 'receive.denycurrentbranch' in ./config
fatal: Could not read from remote repository.

Please make sure you have the correct access rights
and the repository exists.

receive.denycurrentbranch is set to updateInstead on the git repo on the server. This should be a valid value

Can anyone help my get this working so I can push deploy (as described in the cpanel documentation)?

Re: unable to clone git repository from cpanel

I don't believe this is possible on shared cPanel hosting. In order to do this, I believe you would need a VPS or Dedicated Server. However, I would contact phone support or live chat to verify (link at top of page.)
