Linux Hosting (cPanel) Help

Change my Linux Hosting email destination

To use a different email service in your Linux Hosting account (other than cPanel email), you need to update your MX records to match those given to you by your email provider.

  1. Go to your GoDaddy product page.
  2. Under Web Hosting, next to the Linux Hosting account you want to use, click Manage.
    click manage
  3. In the account Dashboard, click cPanel Admin.
  4. In the cPanel Home page, in the Domains section, click Zone Editor. Your domains appear in the Domains list.
  5. For the domain you want to change, click +MX Record and enter the information from your email provider. To prevent possible issues with your email service, start with Priority 10 instead of 0.
  6. Click Add an MX Record.

Note: Before you continue with the next step, wait 48 hours for DNS propagation to take place. During this time, email may be delivered to either your cPanel email account or your email provider. But if you don’t mind downtime, you can continue without waiting 48 hours.

  7. In the cPanel Home page, in the Email section, click Email Routing and select your domain from the list.
  8. Select Remote Mail Exchanger, and then click Change.
  9. Click Zone Editor in the Note at the top of the page.
  10. Select Manage under the Actions column for the domain name that you want to change.
  11. In the Zone Records section, next to the Priority 0 MX record with the Destination that is your domain name, under Actions, click Delete.
    click delete
  12. Click Continue.

While this change propagates, email sent to your domain name may be delivered to the email address on your Linux Hosting account.
