Managing Hosting After You Cancel

If you set up an InstantPage® account, the domain name you registered to get the free credit remains pointed at the InstantPage IP address. You may want to remove the InstantPage website from your domain name, so you can create a website using another application, or by uploading your own files.

It's an easy, three-step process:

  1. Cancel your InstantPage account.
  2. Then, locate the IP address of your hosting account.
  3. Finally, update the A Record in your Domain Name System (DNS) to point your domain name at your hosting account.

To Cancel an InstantPage Account

  1. Log in to your GoDaddy account.
  2. Click Website Builder/InstantPage. Your Website Builder and InstantPage accounts display.
  3. Click the InstantPage account you want to cancel.
  4. From the Overview tab, click Cancel this account.
  5. Click Cancel Account. It may take up to 24 hours before the InstantPage account is no longer associated with your domain name.

To Locate Your Hosting IP Address

  1. Log in to your GoDaddy account.
  2. Click Web Hosting.
  3. Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Manage.
  4. Your IP address displays in the IP Address field in the Server Details column.
  5. Note the IP address.

To Edit the A Record

  1. Log in to your GoDaddy account.
  2. Next to Domains, click Manage.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • From the Tools menu, select DNS Manager, and then click Edit Zone for the domain name you want to update.
    • Click the domain name you want to update and, in the DNS Manager section, click Manage.
  4. Go to the Zone File Editor for the domain name you want to update.
  5. In the A (Host) section, click the A record you want to edit.
  6. In the Points to field, enter the IP address for your hosting account.
  7. Click Save Zone File, and then click OK.
  8. It may take up to 48 hours for your DNS to resolve.
