What's the difference between snapshots and backups?
You can create duplicate images of your servers using two different tools: Snapshots and backups. Both of these tools let you create new servers from the image we have stored, but they have important differences.
Snapshots are free feature to manually create duplicate images of your servers. You can create them at any time.
For more information, see What are snapshots?
Backups are available as a paid service. Using this service, your servers are automatically backed up every night and have their most recent backup stored.
For more information, see What are backups?
However, you can only enable automatic backups on your server when you create them. If you did not enable automatic backups when you created the server, you can either:
- Create manual backups through snapshots
- Use this process to create a duplicate server that has automatic backups
