Why does my email need to be in the right region?

You can optimize the delivery of your messages by selecting the region for your email plan that most closely reflects where you live.

Each region uses one or more of our data centers located there. That's where optimization comes in. For those of you based outside North America, we set up specific regions and data centers you can use:

  • AP — Asia Pacific
  • EU — European Union

If you live outside those regions, you shouldn't select either of them.

But say, for instance, you live in Texas but accidentally set up your email plan with the Asia Pacific (AP) region. That means your messages would go from your computer all the way to one of our data centers in Asia, and then back to your recipient — most likely based in the United States.
